George Braucht was a true recovery Giant. His impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.
For 15 years, George opened his trainings with the sound of whales after a moment of silence. He often spoke of how whales communicate across oceans...likening it to how we must listen deeply, share our stories, and respond to the calls of others in need. That those of us with lived experience have a unique ability to hear and understand the silent and audible cry of others still struggling.
That imagery has become a lasting symbol in our community, and now, whenever we see or hear whales, we think of George.
In that spirit, we will be holding a celebration of life for George at the Georgia Aquarium on June 29, 11:30-1:30.
We will send further details about the event in the coming weeks.
If you are able, please consider making a donation to help fund George’s celebration. Any amount will assist in covering associated costs.
