Helping raise funds for Gary "Pop" Owens' funeral expenses

Our entire Atlantic community is deeply saddened today with the death of Gary “Pop” Owens our good friend and long serving production employee in Summerville. Gary only retired two months ago so the timing of his life ending heart attack today only heightens our shock and sadness.

Pop came to Atlantic with our acquisition of Billhorn Converting in Louisiana and he said then, “wherever these slitters go, I will go with them.” His relocation to Summerville was vital to our early startup and ongoing operations. He was our premier wire and cable slitter operator and no one ever could match his output. Gary was always willing to train new operators and was a true leader in these converting operations. Pop always wore a smile.

His recent retirement was actually his second retirement, for Pop returned to help us meet some high demand in wire and cable after his first exit. We believe he missed us. His response in our time of need showed truly the character and dedication of this fine man. Pop will be missed by all. He had returned to his beloved Louisiana at the time of his death.

Rest in peace, Pop. You were the very best of us.
