Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted residents of our community,

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Garnet Cheeks. He was a cherished husband, father, and exceptional man who brought so much love and light into our lives. His family was also part of the Westland Youth Athletic Association for over a decade, where his children participated in both baseball and football. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

As we come to terms with Garnet’s passing, his family is faced with the difficult task of arranging his final farewell. They want to give him the dignified and heartfelt send-off he deserves, but unfortunately, the financial burden of funeral expenses is overwhelming during this already challenging time.

We are reaching out to our WYAA athletic families & community for support in honoring Garnet’s memory. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help alleviate the financial strain and allow them to focus on remembering Garnet fondly.

The family also appreciates your thoughts, prayers, and messages of support during this difficult time. Your kindness means the world to them as they navigate through their grief. Funeral service dates will be posted here when available.
