Gabriel Fernando Mendez was the love of my life, my best friend, and the person I trusted most in the world. He was a beautiful person inside and out, welcoming everyone with open arms and making each person feel loved and seen. Gabriel was always respectful and quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He loved wholeheartedly and with his whole self, touching the lives of everyone around him. Gabriel loved playing his guitar, cooking for his family, and basketball. He was the one person I could be 100% myself with—unfiltered, unhinged, unapologetic, and unjudged. He was the person I wanted to make proud of me the most, and the main reason I always strived to be better, so I could deserve being called his mom.

On January 29th, 2026, my world changed forever when Gabriel passed away unexpectedly. The shock and pain of losing him are indescribable. My family and I are now facing the difficult task of saying goodbye and honoring his memory in a way that reflects the love and light he brought into our lives.
