Finley was hospitalized unexpectedly on January 30 after she stopped eating and enjoying walks. She went from being a vibrant 10 year old dog with no medical history to relying on antibiotics, a catheter, and feeding tube to keep her alive. After four days of constant testing and treatment, the doctors discovered she had two forms of cancer on her liver. She passed on day 5. She spent her final day riding bikes at the beach with her moms (pictured), and she died in the hospital with her family present.
Finley loved her family and friends deeply. She was fiercely loyal and insufferably affectionate. The average sweetness in our household has gone down (held together by her mama Kaitlyn and baby sister Calypso). She loved the beach, bike rides in her backpack, wearing a bandana around her neck, and cats, especially her siblings.
While Finley's battle with cancer is over, our financial battle has just begun. Finley has insurance, but it will not be enough to cover the expenses for her final days of care. Our family operates on a single income while her mama Kaitlyn is in school to become a therapist. We are asking our community for support to cover a fraction of Finley's expenses. What is left will be used to support her sister Calypso (3 yo cat) who has a level 3 heart murmur and no insurance.
We appreciate any financial support, stories or pictures of Finley, or positive vibes. Thank you for being on this journey with us.
