Honoring Fernando

Hello everyone,

My name is Patricia Jenkins and I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister, Cynthia Madrigal, who on Friday, June 20, 2025, was advised of the passing of someone very dear to us…her father, Fernando Luis Herrera. From what I can recall from my childhood memories of Fernando, Fernando raised my siblings and I to have a love for education. He also was very strict in not allowing us to run the streets, but to be responsible in the decisions that we made. Fernando introduced us to his Puerto Rican heritage, which he spoke of with pride every chance he had. He would make arroz con gandules (rice and pigeon peas) and pollo guisado (chicken stew) which filled the whole house with a savory aroma. His loud and projected voice made his presence known. Fernando was caring in his own way and made himself present when possible. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.

Due to unforeseen and challenging circumstances, Fernando faced challenging health issues that caused his unexpected passing. This situation has placed a heavy burden on the family, both emotionally and financially.

We’re asking for your support—whether through a donation, a share of this page, or keeping Fernando’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Every dollar, no matter how small, will help relieve some of the pressure and give my sister, Cynthia, the financial support needed for his burial expenses.
