Fernando Hormilla, born on October 15, 1953, was more than just a father—he was a friend, a boat enthusiast, and the heart of our family. Known to many as "the most interesting man in the world" or simply Mandaria, he lived life on his own terms and always found a way to make things work. After the loss of my sister, my dad was never quite the same, but he continued to pour his energy into our family and his love for the water. We spent countless hours together working on boat projects, living like pirates, and sharing stories that I’ll cherish forever. His strength and determination were unmatched, and his presence will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
He built a legacy here in the 1980s, '90s, and 2000s as a legend in the boat world. His name and his character will live forever—definitely one of a kind.
As I face the difficult task of saying goodbye, I’m reaching out for support to help cover the costs of my dad’s cremation and to organize a memorial gathering in his honor. My dad wished to be cremated and have his ashes spread in the ocean, reunited with my sister. I want to bring together friends and family one last time to share memories and celebrate his remarkable life. Handling these arrangements on my own is challenging, but I know that with your help, we can give my dad the farewell he deserves. Any support you can offer will go directly toward honoring his final wishes and helping us say goodbye in a meaningful way.
