Felicia Lashay Garrett
Ms. Felicia Lashay Garrett, age 43, affectionately known as “FeFe,” passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2026, at her residence in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, surrounded by her loved ones.
Felicia was born in Laurel, Mississippi to Willie Garrett and Francis Garrett on October 1. 1982. In 1987, she relocated to Muskegon, Michigan, where she became deeply rooted in the community. The family joined Phillip Chapel AME Church, where Felicia faithfully served as an usher and was an active member of the youth chorus, junior choir, and senior choir. She loved to sing and sang with her whole heart—her voice resounding loud, like a rolling sea.
Felicia received her education from Muskegon Heights High School. A proud Tiger fan, she was often seen attending football and basketball games, enjoying the Heights Festival in the Park, and participating in community gatherings. Felicia was truly the life of the party—goofy, loving, outgoing, silly, energetic, and caring. She was well known for going live on Facebook with her hat on, reporting neighborhood news and keeping everyone informed about what was happening in the city she loved so dearly.
Felicia enjoyed driving on the highway, making conversation, singing, dancing, and—most importantly—being surrounded by her family. She was a well-rounded people person and was known and loved throughout her community. She was employed for a short time at Epi Bread and took pride in going to work to provide for herself and her beautiful daughter, Jermya Stewart.
Felicia fought through pain and struggles with unwavering faith. She believed in the power of prayer to help her overcome any obstacle in life. She never judged others and always tried to help, uplift, and encourage those around her. She will truly be missed by many.
Felicia leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Jermya Stewart; her mother, Francis Garrett; her brother, Willie H. Garrett Jr.; her beloved family pet, Toby; aunts, Linda Gail Young, Joyce Patterson, Cassie Mae McMillan, Nicole Bailey; uncles, Ernest McMillan Jr., Dwight McMillan, Steve McMillan, Danny McMillan, Dexter (Phyllis) McMillan, and Anthony McMillan; favorite cousins, Charala Hatten and Cherrel Hatten; special friends, Rita Rodgers and Lakeya Sargent; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Funeral services for Felicia will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Phillip Chapel AME Church, 2145 Dyson Street, Muskegon Heights, MI 49444, with Pastor Anita McCants officiating.
A public viewing will take place the same day one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with services immediately following.
