Honoring Evelyn & Celebrating her life
Donation protected
After a seven year battle, we are devastated to share that our beloved, Evelyn Lopez-Díaz, passed away from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at 28 years old.
For the past few months, Evelyn had received news that her cancer was no longer properly responding to treatment, but she kept fighting hard and hoping for a miracle. Years of brutal treatments, hospital stays, COVID isolation, a transplant, and relocation pushed Evelyn’s body to the limit. And she never complained. She faced every test result, bad news, pain, loss, and isolation with a profound sense of humor, power, and grace. Without an immune system her body had to fight several serious infections that landed her in the hospital in August.
We were told she didn’t have much time based on the seriousness of her infections but she took those expectations and laughed in its face. And then she actually beat those infections and completed her infection treatment course. Like the true fighter she is. Unfortunately, this meant her cancer was not being treated due to her active infections. The type of Leukemia she had is aggressive and progresses quickly. She told us to make sure we said cancer murdered her and that it was not a battle she lost or ever gave up on. Our hearts and spirits are heavy after several traumatic weeks in the hospital. We never once left her side. Now her suffering is over and her sweet spirit is all around us.
We humbly ask for your support to help us cover funeral expenses to properly honor the incredible life Evelyn lived and to support my family after a taxing time of caregiving and loss of income.
We will update everyone on a date for her funeral services and memorial as soon as we are able to make the proper arrangements.
Thank you deeply from the bottom of our hearts.
