My name is Qu Griffin, and I am raising funds to cover the funeral costs for my mother, Ethel Griffin. Being her son was like being raised by Wonder Woman—she was strong, loving, brilliant, and always put her family first. I was her full-time caregiver for the last few months of her life, but also frequently off and on as such while still working a full-time job for the better part of a decade. It has been a long, hard, and well-fought battle that she no longer has to suffer through. Her sudden passing last Tuesday has left both me and my family heartbroken beyond description. Now, I am faced with the urgent challenge of financially securing her funeral services by this Monday, September 1st.

This loss has brought a tumultuous wave of emotional pain to my family and especially me. Her brother (my uncle), her step-children (my half-siblings), her grandchildren (my nieces and nephews), her daughter-in-laws (my sister-in-law and my ex-wife), and her close friends and acquaintances are all grieving, but the responsibility of ensuring a proper burial and celebration of her life falls entirely on me. It's a heavy weight to carry as her devoted son and the head of my house. I want others to understand the depth of what we are experiencing. An inexplicable void has been created by the loss of this amazing woman, my Mom. Covering these costs is the last hurdle before we can truly begin to grieve and heal as a family.
