My name is Emma, and I am raising funds in honor of my older brother and best friend, Ethan. Ethan was just 25 years old when he died by suicide, and losing him at such a young age was the hardest thing I have ever been through. As I approach my 26th birthday, I want to do something meaningful in his name to help others who may be struggling with suicidal ideations.
Ethan was more than just my brother—he was my confidant, my role model, and the person who always knew how to make me smile. His loss left a void in my life that words can hardly describe. I want to channel my grief into something positive by supporting the Suicide Prevention Institute at UNC, an organization dedicated to making mental health care more accessible for all demographics.
All funds raised will be donated directly to the Suicide Prevention Institute, where they will support vital programs and initiatives aimed at preventing suicide and providing hope to those in need. By contributing, you are not only honoring Ethan’s memory, but also helping to create a world where mental health support is available to everyone.
I invite you to join me in this mission—not only by donating, but by being advocates and support systems for those struggling in your own communities. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those who need it most.
