Honoring Erich: Support Emily & the Kids
Donation protected
Hi everyone – it’s Janice Z. and Erin M.
As many of you know, in June 2025, the Schmidt family—Emily, Hunter, Devan, and Livianne—suffered an unimaginable loss. Erich, beloved husband and father, passed away suddenly due to complications from pancreatitis.
In Emily’s words:
“I’ve lost my best friend of nearly 30 years. I cannot even say more right now.”
Erich was not only a loving and generous husband, father and friend, but also the family's primary source of income. With his sudden passing, the family now faces serious financial uncertainty. While Emily is working, her income alone cannot cover the family's full expenses—especially their mortgage and housing stability.
Emily has expressed that a move may be on the horizon, not out of desire but out of necessity. As friends and loved ones, our goal is to give the Schmidts time to grieve without the added pressure of making urgent financial decisions.
We're asking for your help to provide them with a cushion during this overwhelming transition. Your donation will go directly toward:
- Keeping the family in their home as long as possible
- Covering essential expenses not currently met by Emily’s income
- Giving Emily and the kids space to make decisions with care, not urgency
Our initial goal is to help the family cover immediate living expenses and keep them in their home during this incredibly difficult time.
But we also have a dream. If enough support comes in, we would love to help Emily and the kids pay off the house completely—removing the biggest financial burden they’re facing and giving them long-term security as they rebuild their lives.
While we know that’s a big goal, every donation—no matter the size—brings that dream closer to reality. No amount is too small, and every contribution makes a difference. If you’re unable to give right now, please consider sharing this campaign with your network.
Let’s surround the Schmidts with the support, love, and practical help they need in this heartbreaking season.
With gratitude,
Janice & Erin
