In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Joy Lara
On August 5, 2026, our beloved Elizabeth Joy Lara passed away due to complications from End Stage Kidney Disease.
Elizabeth went to Loma Linda University Medical Center for a Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack) in January 2025, due to the side effects of dye used for her procedure her already suffering kidney went into End Stage Kidney Failure. There, she started emergent hemodialysis for the next 6 months going 3 times a week until daily Peritoneal Dialysis was started at home in June. During this time, Elizabeth was transported by helicopter to the emergency room due to flash pulmonary edema and was showing signs of congestive heart failure. Over the past year and a half, she endured countless medical appointments and hospital visits, facing each one with incredible bravery and strength for the sake of her family.
Elizabeth was so much more than her illness. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished sister, nana, auntie and a loyal friend whose kindness touched countless lives. Her warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
For 24 years, Elizabeth served Monterey Bay Academy in the cafeteria as the Food Service Director where she did more than prepare meals. She welcomed students with kindness, encouraged them through difficult seasons, and became a trusted mentor and source of comfort to so many. The relationships she built and the lives she touched will continue to be part of her legacy.
As our family grieves this tremendous loss, we are also facing the financial burden of unexpected medical expenses and the costs associated with honoring Elizabeth's life. We are humbly asking for your support during this difficult time.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease these financial burdens and allow our family to focus on celebrating Elizabeth's life and remembering the incredible woman she was. If you are unable to donate, we would be deeply grateful if you would share this fundraiser and keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for the kindness, generosity, and love during this difficult time.
With Heartfelt Gratitude,
