Honoring Elizabeth: A Selfless Life

We are so very sad to announce that our beloved sister Elizabeth has succumbed to the cancer that has been plaguing her for the past 3 years. A devoted nurse, loving sister, and favorite older aunt, she served the poorest of the community in the Fort Lauderdale area. Even the gangs let her by with just a wave of her stethoscope. They all knew she was there to help. She ate hundreds of hoe cakes while roaches ran over her feet and never once made them feel uncomfortable in the world they lived in. It was their widow's mite, and who was she to not accept it? She did with great love. She spent many a night in the home health office during each and every hurricane to be there for her patients as quickly as possible to help fill their needs for shelter and medical support. She loved her two sons dearly, her sisters deeply, and always worried if she ever did enough to be worthy of the presence of God.

We now need to bury her and we need help. We didn’t realize that instead of a 401k, she had a give-it-away-to-those-in-need fund and pushed off saving to another day. She does not have the money to bury herself.

We are hoping for some help to pay for her cremation and lay her to rest with her family.
