My name Is Anthony Ovalle, I’m putting this together for my little brother Elijah Serrano who was 17 years old and has passed away July 11th 2025. It breaks my heart once again to let you all know that Eli has passed away due to his Duchenne muscular dystrophy illness. He had suffered a great deal on pain and had to go through so much just to get back home after being hospitalized for 3 months and had only spent what we all know now, was his last 2 months with us at home. He went into cardiac arrest got very sick and tried to get him back for 7/8 hours but was unsuccessful. As some of you may know, we just lost our other brother Dominick Serrano march 6th of 2025 and had just laid him to rest on April 25th. All 3 of my little brothers have passed away because of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy disease. This is very very difficult for me and my family to be able to get together what we need to provider Elijah the proper burial he deserves. Elijah was loved by many through his family, friends and staff that took care of him through Sanger high and all the other help that was by his side. This up coming school year was going to be his senior year of high school. Our family what use to be a family of 7 has now come down to a family of 3. I’m deeply sadden we will never get to see him graduate. But we will forever be proud of him for being strong and brave for fighting this battle of DMD.
