Help Us Honor Dwayne’s Life and Legacy

Dwayne was never just “like” a father to me — he was one in all the ways that truly mattered.

He was also a father figure to so many others in the community.

I can still hear him — calling everyone “his kids,” the same way he called me, like we all belonged to him.

There was a steadiness in him — a quiet, grounding presence that I leaned on more than I probably ever put into words. And now that he’s gone, I feel the space of him everywhere.

Losing Dwayne has left a deep ache in our hearts. But loving him was one of the greatest gifts of my life.

Dwayne was a pillar in the Booker T area of Jersey City — and truly throughout all of Jersey City. He gave his life to others in ways that were quiet, consistent, and deeply impactful.

He selflessly helped countless people and families, but most especially young adults and children. His heart was always focused on reducing community violence and creating safer, stronger spaces for the next generation.

Because of that commitment, he started GS Go Get My Kids — an initiative rooted in love, protection, and presence. He wanted his life to matter. And it did.

Dwayne believed every child deserved a chance.

And for every child and young adult in those neighborhoods, he saw them as his own — loving them exactly as they are, without judgment, without condition.

That was who he was.

We are asking for support to help cover funeral expenses and to honor him in a way that reflects the life he lived — with dignity, love, and deep respect.
