Honoring Dr. Xavier Jamal Hoy: Funeral & Memorial

With deep sadness, we share the unexpected passing and deep loss of one of the most amazing human beings God ever created: Dr. Xavier Jamal Hoy. Xavier loved people with a genuine, unconditional love. He was a protective big brother to everyone; a caring college professor at Southern University who went the extra mile and challenged students to give their best; a friend who you could count on to tell you like it is; a devoted son to his mother; and a loving uncle and godfather who fed you wisdom and advice along with mouth-watering meals. Xavier touched countless lives! He gave back to the community through tutoring, voter education and registration, opening his home to people in need, and in so many other ways. Xavier's larger than life personality, comfort food, friendship, and the love he gave family, friends, and students will never be forgotten.

This fund has been established by Xavier's family and beloved students at Southern University where he taught. Our goals are to help ease the unexpected financial burden Xavier's mother is experiencing with his sudden loss and to create a need-based scholarship for Southern University graduate students in Public Policy and Public Administration. Any contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference and be deeply appreciated as we honor the legacy of Dr. Xavier Jamal Hoy.
