Honoring Diane 'DJ' Schick's Legacy

Our beloved mother, Diane 'DJ' Schick, transitioned over on December 22nd after a courageous battle with bone cancer. Her journey with cancer began in 1997 with breast cancer, and throughout her life, she showed remarkable strength and gratitude. In her memory and as a tribute to her unwavering spirit, we have created this fundraiser to fulfill her heartfelt wishes.

Why We Need Funds and What We're Trying to Achieve:

1. Supporting The University of Kansas Cancer Center: Our mother was deeply grateful for the exceptional care and support she received from KU Med throughout her battle with cancer. To honor her memory and the hope she held for future cancer patients, we plan to make a generous donation to the KU Cancer Center. This contribution will help further their vital work in researching and finding a cure to improve the lives of those affected by cancer.

2. Center for Spiritual Living: Our mother was a member of the Center for Spiritual Living (CSL), an organization that embraces the diversity of spiritual beliefs and encourages personal growth. She found solace, love, and joy in this community aka 'her tribe'. In her honor, we aim to support CSL's mission by making a donation that will help others discover the transformative power of spirituality and positive thinking.

3. Fulfilling Her Dream of Travel: Our mother had a lifelong dream of traveling to Paris, France, and Santorini, Greece. Regrettably, she never had the opportunity to embark on this journey herself. As a final act of love and remembrance, she entrusted us, her children, with the responsibility of hosting her celebration of life service and spreading her ashes in these beautiful cities and celebrating her life as she wished. We aim to fulfill her dream and ensure her memory lives on in the places she longed to visit.

By contributing to this fundraiser, you are not only helping us fulfill our mother's final wishes, but also making a positive impact on cancer research and spiritual growth. Your support will forever be appreciated as we honor her legacy and spread love, joy, and hope in her memory.

A public service in honor of Diane will be held at the Center for Spiritual Living, 1014 W. 39th St, Kansas City, MO, 64111, on Sunday, January 7th at 4:00pm CST. This will be a nontraditional and interactive way to honor our mother. Please be prepared to share a story/memory of Diane or to share why you have attended the service.
