Diana Whelpley dedicated her life to caring for others, both as a loving mother of six and a devoted nurse to the elderly for 27 years.
Diana gave so much in her life. She loved and cared about people, animals, nature, and God in such an enormous way! This was her real gift to the world. "LOVE, ACCEPTANCE, FAITH, KINDNESS"
She worked until she was 69 at the nursing home while battling Leukemia, to continue supporting herself and those she cared about, but never had the means to start savings, 401K, investments, etc. We are asking for support from friends and family to help give her a proper farewell.
We want to thank those who have already generously donated to her memorial services. Her celebration of life was on March 16th but she will be laid to rest alongside her Mother and Father in Peru sometime in June (TBA).
Remembering Diana:
Diana Louise Whelpley passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on February 17, 2025.
Born on January 9, 1955, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to Virginia and Donald Whelpley, Diana grew up in Lanesborough before moving to Hinsdale, where she was raised on her family’s dairy farm and will also be laid to rest.
An adventurer at heart, she explored life beyond her small town—biking solo to Nantucket, working as a nanny in Florida, and eventually traveling to California. There, she joined the Lighthouse Ranch in Eureka as a breakfast cook, where she also met the father of her six children. Diana embraced motherhood with unwavering love, homeschooling her children and later raising them as a single parent while earning her nursing degree. She dedicated 27 years to caring for seniors as an LPN at Craneville Place in Dalton.
Diana’s heart was as big as her laugh. She cared not only for her own children but also their friends and those who needed help. She had a deep understanding of outsiders, a strong faith, and a love for caring—whether for her family, her patients, or the animals she adored.
She is survived by her six children: Philip, Jordan, Anna, Levi, Autumn, and Winslow Renderer, and her cherished grandchildren: Amiah, Malachi, Logan, Julia, Kaden, Phalyn, Brooklyn, Lucca, Rey, Orien & Emma. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia and Nancy Whelpley, and her niece, Samantha Brindley.
