Losing our father, Derek Antonio Hereford, has been one of the hardest things my sisters and I have ever faced. Derek was always there to help when needed, with a beautiful soul and a sense of humor that could lighten any mood. He spent his whole life in Tennessee, and his presence brought warmth and laughter to everyone around him. Even as he battled his demons, he never lost his kindness or his ability to make others smile. Deep down, we always feared something like this could happen, but nothing truly prepares you for the loss of a parent. His passing has left a space in our lives that we’re still learning to live with.

We are planning a celebration of life for Derek, bringing together friends and family to honor his memory and share stories of the joy he brought to so many. Because he didn’t have life insurance, all expenses for his cremation and the service are out of pocket. We want to keep his ashes with his daughters, who will carry his memory with them wherever they go. The financial burden has been overwhelming, and we’re reaching out for help to give our father the farewell he deserves.
