Mom, Gram, Nene..Were just some of the names Denise Hammer answered to and was known as. Each of those names she proudly and happily answered to.

She sadly passed just a couple of days short from the new year on December 28th. She fought fully from her ongoing cancer diagnosis, to the very end. Strong, fierce, loving, and independent are just some of the words one could truly describe her for being.

She was the glue to our family. Always bringing everyone together and putting everyone’s wants and needs before her own. Even if she wasn’t at her very best, she did just that. Her presence creates a void in our hearts, and in the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of having known Denise.

A part of this comforts us to know that you’re not in pain anymore and that you’re alongside your husband, parents, siblings, and your nephew, whom you called your giant teddy bear, who was also one of the few we unfortunately lost this year as well. We will always love and miss you very much.

As we grieve her loss and navigate through our new reality, we kindly ask for your help in honoring her the way she deserves and to fulfill her last wish: to be laid to rest by scattering her ashes in the open waters by boat, surrounded by family.
