Honoring DeAnthony: A Son Taken Too Soon

My name is Shameka McDowell. I am the mother in love of DeAnthony Morgan who was tragically found shot to death along with his friend Ms. Wardlow on December 29, 2024 in Hillsborough, NC. I am starting this gofund me on behalf of his mother Pamela Stevenson and father Rico McDowell. Pamela totaled her car trying to get home once she received word that our son had been killed. DeAnthony was only 20 years old when he was killed. DeAnthony was a hard working young man. He was enrolled in college at Lenoir Community College under the DEA Chapter 35 benefits from the VA. His mother works for Amazon. His father is a Disabled Veteran. We did not have life insurance for our son unfortunately. I am pleading for help from those who loved our son. This is something that we never thought would happen to us. Our son DeAnthony nor Ms. Wardlow deserved to die the way that they did. They were apparently shot on Sunday but wasn't discovered until Monday morning. Our family received the horrible news about his death on Monday. Our babies were left out in the elements dead for almost a day before being discovered. I am pleading for financial help so that Pamela, my husband Rico and myself can give our son the proper burial that he deserves. Our children are supposed to bury their parents. Parents should not have to bury their children due to gun violence. Thank you for any donations to our family in our time of grievance.
