David was born June 28th , 1952, in Buffalo, New York, to Theresa Williams-Johnston-Spoon and Albert Johnston. He served his country in the military before leading an accomplished career with the Michigan State Police as a trooper, forensic investigator, and bomb squad officer.
After 31 years of service, he retired from the Michigan State Police as a detective sergeant. Shortly after, he began working for the Department of Homeland Security as their Explosives Specialist; retirement simply didn’t suit him. He was a man of high integrity, devotion, and faithfulness to God.
David was dedicated to and loved his family to the fullest. He is survived by his wife, Emma Johnston; their three children, Amber Johnston (Libby Nelson), Jeremy Johnston, and Ashley Johnston; and his siblings, Brenda Richards (Bob Routley) and Michael Johnston (Marianne Johnston). He is further survived by his nieces and nephews, Jessica Bloomer, Cole Richards, Alissa Johnston, Ryan Johnston, and Alex Johnston.
