Honoring David Gorton: Stribley Park Memorial Bench

The unexpected passing of David Gorton in South Carolina on February 2, 2025, at the age of 58, has been shocking for all of us. Having retired from the Management Analyst III position in the Solid Waste Division of San Joaquin County last year, Dave looked forward to retirement and homesteading.

To honor Dave's memory, we are inviting everyone to contribute to a bench in his honor at the park across the street from where he worked since 2006. Dave would enjoy years' worth of walks around that park with coworkers and friends.

Anyone who knew or worked with Dave knows he was a deeply contemplative and principled person, with an abiding spirit of generosity. It is in this spirit that we are honoring him with a space for reflection in nature, near the place where the work he performed benefitted everyone around him and our community.

Additionally, a Celebration of David's life will be held in Stockton on May 2, 2025. Details to come.
