Honoring David Boots: For Caleb, Hailey & Kaden
Donation protected
David Christopher Boots, 43, passed away on April 17, 2025. He leaves behind his three children—Caleb Boots, Hailey Boots, and Kaden Boots—who were not just his kids, but his best friends.
David was a quiet, gentle soul with a loving and generous heart. He wasn’t always on the move—often, he was simply present, enjoying the moment with the people he loved most. He found peace in the garage, whether working on a project or just listening to music. He loved boating, admired the beauty of flowers (even if he didn’t love the work that came with them), and took great pride in grilling and cooking for his kids.
His artistic side showed in both his work and his world. As an auto body painter, he had a perfectionist’s eye and a creative touch. Outside of work, his favorite time was spent with his kids—whether it was watching TV together, grocery shopping, or heading to Snookie’s for ice cream. He loved watching Ghost Hunters, BuzzFeed Unsolved, and Storm Chasers, and he was always alert when the skies darkened and tornado sirens sounded.
David had a childlike spirit that made him fun to be around—curious, playful, and always up for making his kids laugh. He found joy in just being with them, no matter what they were doing. He was also, in the best and sometimes funniest way, weirdly political—always up for a spirited conversation, always full of opinions, and never afraid to share them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Boots and Donald Ray Boots, and his grandparents, Nancy and Cyril “Pat” Duff.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Urbandale Senior Recreation Center (7505 Aurora Avenue, Urbandale, IA 50322). All family and friends are welcome to gather, remember, and celebrate the life of someone who meant so much to so many.
David’s passing is a devastating reminder of the silent struggles so many face. We share this with love and honesty to help raise awareness around mental health, suicide prevention, and alcoholism. If you or someone you love is hurting, please know that there is help, and there is hope.
David will be remembered not just for what he did—but for who he was. A father, a friend, and a kind soul.
