Hi, my name is Alexandria Short, and I am raising funds in memory of my father, Daren Dean Short.

On Friday, December 12, 2025, our family lost an incredible father, grandfather, and friend. Daren, 59, of Midland, Michigan, passed away at the home he was in the process of building alongside his children—a project that meant more to him than anything else.

Daren was born on June 28, 1966, to Vicki Eden and the late Norman Short. He now joins his father, Norman, and his younger brother, Scott Short, in eternal rest.

Throughout his life, Daren lived in several places before eventually meeting Michelle Short in Ohio, where they began life together and raised four children.

Above all else, Daren’s greatest pride and purpose was his family. He was a deeply devoted father who always put his children before himself. His love was steady, selfless, and unwavering.

He is survived by his children: Alexandria Short; Brock Short; Ashley (Allan) Riggie; and Shawna (Dominick) Strayer; his cherished grandchildren Caleb, Brylee, and Abigail; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

This GoFundMe has been created to help us cover the cost of Daren’s headstone, as well as funeral related expenses. Due to his unexpected passing and the absence of a completed will, these costs have fallen directly on his children during an already difficult time. All donations will be received and managed by me, Alexandria Short, Daren’s eldest child and next of kin.

A graveside service honoring Daren’s life will be held on December 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
