It is with heavy hearts that we share the untimely passing of our beloved Danusha Kibby.
We have created this GoFundMe to help support the Kibby family during this incredibly difficult time. Your generosity will help ease the financial burden of cremation expenses, the loss of household income, and the rising cost of everyday living as they begin to navigate life without Danusha.
Danusha passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m. due to complications related to her health.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of more than 40 years, Walter “Dirty Walt” Adam Kibby II and their son, Walter “Buggy Walty” Adam Kibby III. Danusha was the heart of their family - their source of strength, love, and stability. Losing her is an unimaginable heartbreak, and the road ahead will be a long and difficult one as they adjust to life without this integral part of their every day.
Danusha’s family immigrated from Russia and Poland to Canada, where she was born Diana Danusha Louisa Okinczyc in Niagara Falls on January 9, 1960. She later moved to Michigan before settling in Los Angeles in the early 1980s. There, she quickly became part of the vibrant music community and was one of the original “Sandwich Girls” who performed alongside the band Jane’s Addiction.
Those who knew Danusha will remember her for her kindness, generous spirit, infectious laughter, and radiant smile. She cared deeply for her family and friends, expressing her love through thoughtfully prepared healthy meals, a welcoming home, and countless acts of kindness. As a talented floral designer, she filled her home with beautiful arrangements that reflected her creativity and brought joy to everyone who visited. She made the world around her brighter, and we are all better for having known and loved her.
In recent months, the Kibby family has already faced significant financial challenges following the loss of Walt’s income after the breakup of the legendary band Fishbone, where he had been a member since he was a teen. Now, with Danusha’s passing, the family has also lost her contribution to the household income. Combined with the high cost of living in Los Angeles and Walty taking time away from work to grieve and support his father, the financial strain has become overwhelming.
We ask that you keep Walt and Walty in your thoughts and prayers as they begin the difficult journey of healing. Danusha’s love, warmth, and beautiful spirit will forever live on in their hearts and in the hearts of everyone whose lives she touched.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, support, and generosity. Whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or simply keeping the Kibby family in your thoughts and prayers, every act of love means more than words can express.
