In Loving Memory of Daequan Finley

With heavy hearts, we come together to honor the life of Daequan Finley, a remarkable young man who has left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Daequan was more than just a friend—he was a brother, a source of unwavering love, inspiration, and strength. To me personally, he was a brother from a past life, someone who forever changed my outlook on this world and what it truly means to be a good person.

To his family, friends, and the entire community, Daequan was the embodiment of love, kindness, dedication, perseverance, and an unyielding work ethic. His energy was magnetic, his soul pure, and his presence a constant reminder of what it means to live life with purpose. There are no words that can fully capture the depth of his spirit, nor the profound impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

On Sunday, November 2nd, Daequan was at home with his mother, Daphne, and his baby sister when he unexpectedly suffered a seizure. While we wish to respect his family’s privacy, we can share that Daequan was rushed to the hospital, where he remained in a coma for nearly a week, surrounded by the love and support of his family. Despite the valiant efforts of medical staff, Daequan passed away.

Though our hearts are broken, there is solace in knowing that Daequan's life, in his final moments, helped save another. As an organ donor, Daequan’s generous spirit continues to live on through those whose lives he has touched in the most profound way. His decision to donate his organs has already made an incredible impact, giving someone else a second chance at life. It is a testament to the kind of person he was—always thinking of others, even in his most difficult moments.

As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life—his endless capacity to give, his determination to overcome, and his legacy of love and kindness that will live on in each of us. His memory will continue to inspire and remind us to be better, to love harder, and to never take a single moment for granted.
