The last 5 months have been the most difficult of my life. Words would never be enough to describe the companionship I had with this horse over the last 20 years. Friend, family, heart horse... none of these adequately capture the bond we had, and no words could ever do him justice. Cleveland Rocks, more well known by his barn name of CR, has been my most cherished companion for over half of my life. Early this year, he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of inflammatory bowel disease during an emergency visit at the Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center equine hospital. A few short months later, he lost his battle despite my best efforts. As you can imagine, his veterinary bills and the costs associated with laying him to rest have taken a devastating toll on my finances.

I am not normally one to ask for help. But over the last several months, caring for my best friend has depleted my emergency fund many times over. This has been far in excess of $5,000.
