A Bench for Cody – Honoring a Brother

We’re raising funds to place a memorial bench along the Helen B. Katz nature trail—a quiet spot where others can pause, breathe, and feel the peace Cody always found in the outdoors.

Nature was his sanctuary. Whether he was out walking around, sitting by the trees, or just enjoying the fresh air, it was where he felt most himself. We want this bench to reflect that part of him—a place where his spirit can live on in the stillness he loved.

More than anything, Cody was selfless. He was the kind of person who showed up—who gave without asking for anything in return, who put others’ needs before his own, and who made people feel seen, heard, and loved. Honoring him with something that gives back to others feels right—because that’s what he always did.

There’s a quote that speaks so deeply to who he was and what he left behind:

“If it were to all end right now

What are you holding on to

That you need to let the world see?”

This bench is part of our answer. It’s something we can share with the world—something lasting, peaceful, and full of love. It is our way of letting the world see a piece of him—his kindness, his love for nature, and the quiet strength he carried
