Honoring Chuck "SONIC" Carroll
Donation protected
On November 16, 2019, Chuck “Sonic” Carroll, a premier advocate for the Southwest Florida darting community, passed away. Chuck left behind a loving wife, Rocio, and two children, Ty and Stephanie. The dart community holds vigil for Chuck and offers its deepest condolences to the Carroll family.
A message from BackStreets owner, Shelly:
This is a difficult time for the darting community and my extended family.
I met the Carrolls in 1979. Sherri Carroll and I became best friends right away. I quickly grew to know her parents, Bill and Lee, along with siblings Chuck and Shawn. As a young adult, I lived with the family, I’m not going to lie. Chuck was the annoying little brother - LOL - but, hey, he was family.
Chuck had diabetes, which ultimately led to heart issues. For the past three years he’d been living with a defibrillator. On Friday, November 15th, doing what he loved most, Chuck suffered a massive heart attack and went into cardiac arrest while competing at the Florida State Dart Tournament in Orlando.
Those who knew Chuck can attest he dedicated years of his life to darts, BMX and selling Girl Scout cookies. He was relentless about everyone needing cookies, and most people quickly obliged whether they wanted them or not.
For the past few years, Rocio has worked two jobs to support the family. We would like to help her with the funeral expenses and continued care for the children and Rocio’s mother, who lives with the Carrolls.
