On May 17th, our beloved Christopher Lamouri shared a heartbreaking post on Facebook. In the early hours of May 18th, he was found hanging in a local park. When RCMP arrived, he had no pulse, but they were able to revive him and transport him to the hospital, where he was placed on life support. Tragically, we’ve since learned that the brain damage he suffered is irreversible. On May 20th, after a final goodbye with loved ones and a native ceremony honoring his cultural and spiritual beliefs, Chris was taken off life support.

Chris was a wonderful son, a loving brother, a devoted husband, and a caring father. He had a heart full of love, a sense of humor that could brighten any room, and a deep desire to take care of those around him—even when it meant putting himself last. He fought bravely and quietly with his mental health for many years, having endured a lifetime of hardship and pain. He leaves behind three beautiful daughters who were his entire world, his wife, his sisters, and his brother.

Our family is now faced with the heartbreaking responsibility of saying goodbye in a way that honors his life and his wishes. Though Chris had asked to be buried in Ontario, we have decided to lay him to rest in British Columbia. This will allow his youngest daughters to visit him often and give his eldest daughter a meaningful reason to stay connected with her sisters.

Chris also leaves behind significant debt, and the cost of carrying out his final wishes—including a funeral, burial, and celebration of life—has grown to nearly $30,000. As much as we want to honor his request not to be cremated, we may not be able to do so without financial help. We must also think of our own futures and the needs of the children he left behind.

We are asking for support—any amount helps—to ease this overwhelming burden. Your kindness will go directly toward honoring Chris, supporting his daughters, and giving our family the chance to grieve without the added stress of financial hardship.
