Our family is going through one of the hardest moments of our lives. Our father, Christopher Halsted, suffered a devastating stroke on March 10th that caused a brain bleed in the pons area of his brain. During the ambulance ride to the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest, but first responders were able to bring him back. He has been in the ICU at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital on life support since then.
After days of hope and closely working with his doctors, we have learned that our father is not going to recover from the damage caused by the the brain bleed. My brother and I traveled from out of state to be here with him during this incredibly difficult time so that he would not be alone and so we could make the important medical decisions that needed to be made.
As we prepare to say goodbye to our dad, we are also facing unexpected expenses. The cost of last-minute travel, lodging, food, and time away from work has been overwhelming. In addition, we will soon be responsible for end-of-life arrangements, including cremation and other final expenses.
Anyone who knew our dad knows what an incredible man he is. He has always been full of love, compassion, and energy, and he touched so many lives with his kindness. The world truly needs more people like him.
We created this fundraiser to help relieve some of the financial burden so we can focus on being here with our father and honoring his life. Any support, whether through a donation, sharing this page, or keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers, would mean so much to us.
Thank you for the love and support you have already shown our family during this heartbreaking time.
