GoFundMe for Funeral and Memorial Costs + To Support Ben, Chloe's Husband
At 1:40PM on Sunday the 25th, my sister, Chloe/Charlie Borders was involved in a car crash in West Sacramento. We have been told that the driver who hit her was a DUI and is in custody. Chloe did not survive.
We haven’t been given all the details yet and have been told that this is in part because it is an active crime investigation.
I got home from work on Sunday and got a call from her husband, Ben around 5:30. He told me that Chloe was supposed to be at a photoshoot for her counseling agency that had ended at 4, but that he hadn’t heard from her since around 1:35 and was really worried.
I went to be with Ben and the two of us worried together for an hour and a half or so while I called all the local emergency rooms, police, and CHP. They all said they had no records of any incidents with Chloe or cars fitting the description.
Around 8:30, through the suggestion of an investigator, Ben figured out how to track Chloe’s phone and we found that it was at the West Sacramento police department.
Ben and I jumped in the car to head there, but shortly after pulling out, Ben’s dad called and delivered the news.
Poor Ben is utterly shattered
We’re all struggling, Ben and I lost our shit together and sobbed in utter disbelief. Ben’s mom, sibling, and dad came to be with us, and then our dad came. We spent the evening together and Ben is now at home with his dad and mom switching spending time with him.
I don’t know how to do this.
I’ve never created a go fund me, but I’ve had dozens of people reaching out to me asking how they can help and I really know that at times like this, grieving is best done in community and we all need a way to participate and connect.

Chloe was Ben’s everything and he’s utterly shocked and in despair. We’re all struggling. We’re all broken around this, but ben is completely undone. We need to be there for him. Let’s help him.
