Some knew Chenlin as a Taiwanese classmate or a Japanese colleague. Others knew him as an experienced consultant, a basketball player, a golf enthusiast, a curious traveler, a husband, a father, a son, a brother, or a friend. To many, he was also known for his sharp sense of style, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his lifelong drive to keep challenging himself and those around him.
Whether it was moving his family 10,000 km from Tokyo to Chicago to give his children a broader world, juggling cross-border M&A projects while catching up with the fast-paced business English environment, or pushing through the harsh side effects of chemotherapy with a smile so his family wouldn’t worry, he never stopped moving forward. He believed in effort, in discipline, and in finding purpose through hard work and gratitude.
After his cancer diagnosis, the years that followed were marked by strength and courage. Even in the hospital, he stayed true to himself: composed, never once given up, and more concerned about others than about his own pain. We miss him deeply. His calm presence, his humor, and the quiet way he made everything feel stable even when life wasn’t.
This page is to honor his journey and to support my mom and our family as we continue what he started. Your messages, memories, and support remind us that his story doesn’t end here — it lives on in everyone he inspired.
Thank you for remembering Chenlin Hu.
