David had many names throughout his lifetime. He was born on 6/4/1959 as Tevita Mafi Taufoou. To his kids he was Dad/Father. To his wife he was Husband/Hun. To his grand children, he was known as Papa/Grandpa. To his siblings he was Brother. To his parents he was Son. To his friends he was known as Dave or Champ. To members of the church he was known as Chaplain. To his Heavenly Father, he was called Faithful Servant.

David first served his family of 7 kids and 18 grandchildren. In his younger days he was known for his appearance in the 1984 Olympics where he represented The Kingdom of Tonga as a heavyweight boxer. He was known as Dave to his neighbors, friends and co-workers where he planted most of his roots in Redwood City, CA and throughout the Bay Area. He was known as Chaplain to his church which he came up from the San Carlos Tongan Assembly of God and called to his own ministry: “Passion for the Lost.” Chaplain preached the gospel of Christ within his church and ministered within the walls of numerous correctional facilities throughout the Bay Area, touching the lost souls of those incarcerated and sharing Gods love.

David was an inspiration to many. A God fearing man, led by love & faith, filled with strength and compassion, driven by family and strong will. His legacy will continue through his family, the church, and the community he served. His memories will live on and with it, to God be the glory.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
