Hello everyone, I am reaching out to you on behalf of my family and myself in hopes of gathering some funds to cover my dad’s funeral expenses. 

My dad, Catarino Esteban, passed away on the night of March 10th after dealing with several health issues for the past couple of years. During his last hospital visit, he ended up having to be placed on life support. After following doctors’ advice and having family discussions, we had to make the difficult decision to take our dad off life support and let him go. 

Many of you may not have known my dad, but he was one of the most hard working, humble, and kind people someone can get to know. He was the first in our family to migrate to the United States and raised 6 children on his own after my mom passed away back in 2007. Both of my parents spent their lives working as farmworkers in the Coachella Valley to provide my siblings and myself the opportunity to achieve our goals. Thanks to the sacrifices of both my mom and dad, I became the first person in my entire family to attend and graduate from a university. My little sister, Luz, and nieces have followed. 

There won’t ever be a way we can repay our parents but I am certain they were proud of each and every one of us. Over the past couple of years, my sister Luz placed all her focus on taking care of my dad, which required her to step away from her career goals and become his primary caretaker. Therefore, if there are any additional funds gathered, they would help her get back to pursuing her career goals. 

My family and I appreciate any and every donation and form of support we can get. Even sharing the link would be very much appreciated. Everything is still very fresh, and we are still processing our loss and taking things day by day.

Hola a todos, me dirijo a ustedes en nombre de mi familia y el mío con la esperanza de recaudar fondos para cubrir los gastos del funeral de mi papá.

Mi papá, Catarino Esteban, falleció la noche del 10 de marzo tras lidiar con varios problemas de salud durante los últimos años. Durante su última hospitalización, tuvieron que conectarlo a un respirador artificial. Seguimos el consejo de los médicos y después de hablarlo en familia, tuvimos que tomar la difícil decisión de desconectarlo del respirador y dejarlo ir para que el descanse.

Muchos de ustedes quizás no conocieron a mi papá, pero era una de las personas más trabajadoras, humildes y amables que uno pueda conocer. Fue el primero de nuestra familia en emigrar a los Estados Unidos y crió a seis hijos solo después del fallecimiento de mi mamá en el año 2007. Mis padres trabajaron toda su vida como campecinos en el Valle de Coachella para darnos a mis hermanos y a mí la oportunidad de alcanzar nuestras metas. Gracias a los sacrificios de mis padres, fui la primera persona de toda mi familia en asistir a la universidad y graduarme. Mi hermana pequeña, Luz, y mis sobrinas nos han seguido.

Nunca podremos compensar a nuestros padres por todo lo que hicieron, pero estoy seguro de que estaban orgullosos de cada uno de nosotros. En los últimos años, mi hermana Luz se dedicó por completo a cuidar de mi papá, lo que la obligó a dejar de lado sus metas profesionales y convertirse en su cuidadora principal. Por lo tanto, si se recaudan fondos adicionales, le ayudarían a retomar sus metas profesionales.

Mi familia y yo agradecemos cualquier donación y forma de apoyo. Incluso compartir el enlace sería muy apreciado. Todavia estamos procesando nuestra pérdida día a día.
