Donations are being accepted for our last Cason Elizabeth Crabtree Memorial Scholarship. Due to my health and the stress doing the scholarship puts on me, it is too much for me to continue at this time. We have awarded scholarships since 2019, in varying amounts depending on how much money we raise. This decision was not an easy one to make. We may, at some point in the future resume the scholarship award process but for now 2026 will be our last year.

it has brought me great joy awarding scholarships and following the recipients on their own amazing journeys. I will still have The Winking Owl Foundation facebook page and will continue to try to help those that contact me. One of the many things I have learned through all of this is personal health is very important and at some point you have to actually take care of yourself.

Not a moment goes by that I don’t think of Cason. I am lucky to have our beautiful memories, until I see her again. One memory is how The Winking Owl got its name. Cason and I were shopping and she found a winking owl “piggy” bank. She came running up asking please, please can I get this?!?! She was smiling that gorgeous smile. I, of course said yes. She said, every time you look at this you will think of me and smile. She was right! I do smile, every time I see her winking owl bank or any winking owl. They always bring a smile to my face.

I hope that the 2026 Cason Elizabeth Crabtree Memorial Scholarship may help start the journey of wonderful memories for someone else.
