Honoring Caslyn's Legacy and Love

My name is Michael Huck and I just lost the absolute love of my life to Gastric Cancer. My wife Caslyn was the central character in our life and to say that this is a tragedy for myself and my family just does not give it justice.

Caslyn was a proud Belizean woman, Mother, Wife, and Daughter. She really did everything for us; she planned and prepared all holiday meals, made sure we all checked in regularly, and forced us to do the things that were hard when we didn't want to because she loved us and only wanted what was best for us.

Our kids had just become adults, with our youngest becoming 18 almost 2 years ago, and we were doing all the planning you expect from empty nesters. We were planning trips and all the things we would be doing together as one since our entire life was dedicated to our children and family. We were planning a trip to Tulum and a return for her to Belize in 2025 before everything changed and took a turn for the worse.

In May 2025, Caslyn was literally doing ALL THE THINGS! We went to Beyoncé with the help of an angel I work with, which was a lifelong dream for her! She got her Master's Degree in HR after many starts and stops due to life and responsibilities. She got her naturalization as a US Citizen, which she had wanted for many years but was torn because she loves Belize so much. She LOVED running 5Ks and had just finished 4 in the previous two weeks, but she was feeling super tired after. Not the usual tiredness after a run; she would be down for the day after. She just kept pushing through because that is what she does, no matter how often I told her to take it easy. At the end of May, her tiredness had progressed to serious pain in her back and abdomen, and we took her to the emergency room to get diagnosed. That was the day she learned she had Stage 4 Gastric Cancer, and it had metastasized to other parts of her body. We saw this as another fight, another challenge that we could win together. We started aggressive chemo treatment, and it took 5 weeks of torture for her in the hospital. I was there every day with her after work and all weekend to get her all she needed because I KNEW she would get better, and she did for a time. We kept her home for months, but she started to feel down in December, and we had a few emergency room visits to get to the bottom of it. In January, she was in immense pain again, and we took her to the hospital on the 25th. Unfortunately, things escalated quickly, and she succumbed to the cancer and has now moved on to a better place.

I am strictly doing this GoFundMe at my wife's and children's wishes. They know I will just compartmentalize the pain and take on the responsibilities, and they are afraid it will be too much. I am afraid it will be too much too, but we did literally anything and everything we could for her. Some of the treatments were tremendously expensive for new medicines and treatments that had shown real promise, and I honestly did not even consider the consequences; I just wanted her better, and we will figure it out together. I never left room in my mind for a world where she would not be better, and we could tackle that together too! The funds will all be used to cover our medical expenses, and if possible, after all obligations are paid, she would love for me to take our children to Belize to see her home country she loved so dearly.
