It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Casey Hartzell Rankin on August 24, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming, just days before his 51st birthday.
Casey had a heart of gold and a joyful spirit. He loved the ranch life, horses, the outdoors, and his loyal dog, Stormy. Even after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998, Casey faced life with incredible grace, goofy humor, and an optimism that lifted up everyone around him. His famous “Oh geez” moments still bring smiles to those who loved him most.
Casey is survived by his brother Cody, his step-siblings Jacque and Jason, and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claudia and Thomas, and his stepfather, Steve.
As we grieve this loss, we are reaching out to friends, family, and our community for help. Due to his nearly lifelong illness, Casey was unable to work nor able to afford life insurance. Any contributions will go toward covering funeral expenses and honoring Casey’s life in a way that reflects the love and joy he shared with all of us. Your support, whether through donations, kind words, or sharing memories, means more than we can express. If there are any excess funds, they will be donated to NOWCAP Services.
Casey’s ashes will be interred with his mother Claudia in Torrington, and the Rankin Family will be hosting a celebration of life in the coming weeks, details to follow.
Thank you for helping us celebrate Casey’s life and keep his light shining.
