Our hearts are broken as we share the loss of our sweet baby boy, Carter.
Carter was born at 30 weeks on Easter Sunday, April 5th, and was immediately admitted to the NICU. In those early days, his mother could only see him through the incubator, holding his tiny hand and cherishing every moment she could. Within his first week of life, Carter developed a severe infection that quickly spread to his heart. Despite every effort from the medical team, the infection led to devastating complications, including blood clots in his heart and lungs.
Carter spent time on a ventilator as the clots took over his tiny body, resulting in half of his heart no longer functioning and circulation being completely cut off from his left leg. He was later transferred to DCM Hospital, where doctors worked tirelessly and did everything possible to save him.
Tragically, Carter passed away on April 20th.
Carter’s mother is now left grieving an unimaginable and unpredictable loss. She is a loving mother of three children, and now carries the heartbreak of losing one far sooner than anyone could have ever expected. Her and her family are navigating a pain no parent should ever have to endure.
We were not prepared for a loss like this. Though his time here was far too short, Carter was deeply loved and will forever remain a part of our hearts.
We are asking for support to help with funeral arrangements, and daily living expenses as the family takes time to grieve and begin to heal. Any contribution, no matter the size, means more than we can express. If you are unable to give, keeping this family in your thoughts and prayers is just as meaningful.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
