We are deeply saddened to share the news of Carrie Heilman's passing. She was an amazing mother, wife, professor, and friend. Carrie was an extraordinary presence in the UVA community and in the lives of so many student athletes. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support touched countless lives, and her absence will be felt by all who knew her.

To honor Carrie's generous spirit, her family will donate 100% of the GoFundMe donations to local charities that best represent her values and passions. These contributions will help continue the positive impact she had on the world, supporting causes that were close to her heart and ensuring her legacy lives on.

Carrie brought warmth and care into every space she entered. She was a trusted mentor at the University of Virginia, a cherished member of the UVA Swimming and Diving family and an active member of the Crozet community. She had a rare ability to make people feel supported, and she shared that gift freely. Carrie leaves Brad and their four children Jason, Matthew, Thomas, and Katherine, who were the center of her world. Her love for them created a sense of community that embraced teammates, parents, friends, and so many others.

Carrie cared so deeply for so many, and now we would like to pay tribute to her by giving back through donations to charities her family chooses that best honor Carrie.
