Yesterday, August 27 2026, my dad, Carmen Ramos Hortelano, passed away in a tragic accident when a house he was building collapsed. He was only 37 years old. As we try to process this sudden loss, we are asking for help with funeral expenses and ongoing support for our family in the months ahead.
My dad meant everything to us. He was not just a dad to me and my siblings, but a hero. In the middle of that accident, he helped get three other people out and saved them, but he was the only one who did not make it. That says so much about the kind of person he was—someone who put others first and gave his love so freely.
He raised three adopted sons and one daughter, and he was a loving husband. He also cared deeply for his siblings and welcomed his wife's side of family as if they were his own. He always saw good in people and never judged them. He was even collecting things to sell to help a friend with cancer, and he would make food sales to help other people who were having a hard time financially. He held so many people together with his love, and his absence is deeply felt by all of us who depended on him and loved him.
Right now, we need support to help cover his funeral expenses and to help our family stay afloat as we face what comes next. We do not have all arrangements yet, but we know these needs will be here very soon, within next month or two.
If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would mean so much to me and my family. Thank you for helping us honor my dad, Carmen, and for standing with us during this painful time.
