My name is Dr. Jodi Kopacz, and I have the privilege of serving as the Principal of Sarasota Academy of the Arts. I am creating this fundraiser with the love, support, and permission of Bryan's wife, Melissa, to help their family during this unimaginable time.
On July 28, our school community lost one of its brightest lights. Bryan Egan was more than an extraordinary teacher—he was a devoted husband, a loving father, a trusted colleague, and a cherished friend. He had a remarkable gift for making every student feel valued, every coworker feel supported, and every family feel welcomed. His kindness, compassion, humor, and unwavering dedication left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
While Bryan's impact reached countless students and families over the years, his greatest joy was always his family. Melissa, Nicholas, and Makayla were the center of his world.
No amount of money can lessen the heartbreak of losing someone so deeply loved. However, as a community, we can help ease some of the financial burdens that accompany such an unexpected loss. The funds raised will help Melissa and the children with funeral and memorial expenses, household expenses, and the many unforeseen financial challenges that arise as they begin to navigate life without Bryan.
Bryan spent his life giving to others. Now it is our turn to give back.
Whether you are a former student, a parent, a colleague, a friend, or someone whose life was touched by Bryan's kindness, we invite you to honor his legacy by supporting the family he loved so deeply. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a meaningful expression of love and support.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Melissa, Nicholas, Makayla, and the entire Egan family in your thoughts and prayers.
On behalf of Melissa and the entire Egan family, thank you for your generosity, compassion, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
