I unfortunately had to put my dog down and the cost of the vet bills trying to keep him alive plus the eventual euthanasia just became too much.

My first vet didn't bother to do a chest Xray and this led to my boy suffering needlessly for another week until we had to take him to the ER, where it was immediately apparent via Xray that somrthing was wrong, and incurable. We thought he had a particularly stubborn sinus infection, or pneumonia from a winter storm that had blown through, but he ended up having pleural effusion, which as I understand it is the last thing thst a body does in response to some major issue like cancer. Most likely, it was in his nose (the sinus infection).

My dog Bird was a sweet boy who we found in a Buccee's parking lot. Apparently, someone had shoved him out of their truck at 6am, and we had only stopped on our own 10 hour road trip to get coffee creamer because the starbucks had forgotten to add the syrup to one of our drinks.

I spent 45 minutes doing what humans do best; following him slowly until he got tired of that. I knew he was a good dog, though, because at one point I tripped and he circled back to check on me.

Someone had already called animal services, so when we were on our way back to the car, a cop car pulls up and asks, "Hey, is that your dog?" And I just came up with the quickest thing I could. On account of him chasing some birds in the field, I call him Bird. According to the cop, I was lucky to have found him again because he would have gone to an already full shelter who would have had to put him down.

He was my best boy. He didn't cuddle, and he didnt do kisses, but he was at the door every night I came home, and when I sat on the couch he'd shove his whole head into my chest and just leeeeeaaan in for a while. He checked the perimeter every night and slept outside my bedroom door when I had bad nights. Honestly, I've never had a dog like him.

I would be deeply grateful for any relief towards his bills, which totalled to 2800 after multiple visits trying to figure out what was wrong. I was able to finance 800 of it via a pet insurance thing, but anything else I would appreciate help with.
