My son, Billy Joe Whitten, was always the light in any room—his smile was infectious, and his stories were unforgettable. He had a way of making everyone laugh, and even when his tales sounded unbelievable, they always turned out to be true. Billy was the kind of person who would help anyone in need, and his kindness touched so many lives. He was incredibly handsome, a true women magnet, and wore his heart on his sleeve. The bond we shared was unique; he would even ask me to pretend to be his sister so his friends wouldn’t know his mom was driving him around. Those moments are memories I will always cherish.
Tragically, Billy was taken from us far too soon when he was shot and killed by a teenager. The pain of losing my son and best friend is indescribable. I am now facing the overwhelming task of arranging his funeral and memorial services. I am raising funds to help cover the costs of his funeral, memorial service, and casket, so we can give Billy the farewell he deserves.
To honor Billy’s memory, we plan to play a special song, “Duke City” by Benjamin Cavalier, which he created himself. This song holds deep meaning for our family and will be a tribute to the joy and love he brought into our lives. Any support you can offer will help us celebrate Billy’s life and say goodbye in a way that truly honors him.
