With heavy hearts, we share that my brother, Billy Joe Luhring, lost his courageous battle with Stage 3 multiple myeloma on Sunday, July 26, at 11:19 a.m. at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Billy was diagnosed on January 1, 2023, and from that day forward, his life changed forever. He went from being an independent, hardworking man who loved staying busy to someone who depended on others for even the simplest tasks. Despite everything cancer took from him, Billy never let it take his determination. He continued to fight with incredible strength and tried to keep doing the things he loved whenever he could.

Throughout every doctor’s appointment, hospital stay, sleepless night, emergency, and setback, his wife, Patsy Luhring, never left his side. Since 2014, Billy and Patsy built a life together, and she devoted every single day to caring for him. She put her own life on hold, unable to work because she was focused on getting Billy to treatments, staying with him through long hospital stays, and doing everything possible to help save his life. Every dollar they had went toward his care.

Now, Patsy is facing the unimaginable. She has lost not only her husband and best friend but also the partner she planned to spend the rest of her life with. As she navigates this heartbreaking new chapter as a widow, she is also left with the financial burden of funeral expenses and the many costs that come after losing a loved one.

We are asking for any support you can give to help ease this burden so our family can focus on grieving and honoring Billy’s life. He deserves a beautiful memorial, and Patsy deserves the chance to find some peace without the added weight of overwhelming expenses.
