Our hearts are broken as we share the sudden passing of James “Big Jim” Sykes—beloved husband, father, G’Paw, friend, and the unforgettable voice of SiriusXM’s Elvis Radio. His loss has left a tremendous void in our family and in the Elvis community he loved so deeply.
Big Jim was known for his infectious smile, his larger‑than‑life personality, and the warmth he brought to every room—and every broadcast. For more than two decades, he welcomed listeners into his world with kindness, humor, and a genuine love for the music and people he served. But beyond his career, Jim’s greatest joy and proudest role was being G’Paw to his three grandbabies: Ava, Garrett, and Amelia. He poured his heart into them every single day.
His passing was unexpected, and our family is now facing the emotional and financial challenges that come with such a sudden loss.
