It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beautiful mother, Bernice Coleman. Bernice was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. She was known for her no-nonsense nature, warmth, humor, and the way she made people feel welcome and cared for. Even in difficult moments, her spirit and personality continued to shine through. Her strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
Bernice passed away on the night of Tuesday, January 6th, following a recent hospitalization. Earlier that day, she was happy—singing, talking about food, and surrounded by love. While she had been making progress, she went into cardiac arrest and passed peacefully. God had other plans and lifted her up without hesitation. He took her on a day filled with music, laughter, and love, and for that, I am at peace.
My heart still hurts, but she is now at rest, reunited with my dad, and surrounded by love. Bernice Coleman is truly at peace.
I am now navigating both the emotional and practical realities that come with her passing. Unfortunately, there was not adequate life insurance in place, and I am seeking support to help cover the immediate costs associated with her final arrangements.
Funds raised will help cover funeral and memorial service expenses, burial costs, transportation, and other immediate end-of-life and administrative expenses. This support will help ease the financial burden and allow our family to focus on honoring Bernice’s life with care and dignity.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page or keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers means just as much.
A celebration of Bernice’s life is planned for the morning of Saturday, January 31st. Specific details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this time and in the months ahead.
With deep & soulful gratitude,
Dereine
