My name is Michael, and I am reaching out during the most difficult chapter of my life. My beloved wife, Barbara Pope, and I shared 37 years together—years filled with love, resilience, and unforgettable memories. We first met while working at AT&T in California, and our connection was instant. In a beautiful twist of fate, Barbara’s birthday matched my birth address, a sign that our lives were meant to intertwine. Fourteen years after we met, we welcomed our daughter, and 23 years later, we returned to my childhood home, ready for the next chapter as a family.
Our world changed when Barbara was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. She bravely faced chemotherapy and radiation, and for a time, we celebrated her remission. But life threw us another curveball when the cancer returned, this time in her brain. Barbara underwent gamma knife surgery and once again fought her way into remission. Despite her incredible strength, she developed pneumonia, and further tests revealed the cancer had returned to both her lungs and brain. Just two months after being released from the hospital, illness took its final toll, and I lost my partner, our daughter lost her mother, and the world lost a truly remarkable woman.
I am doing my best to stay strong for our daughter, who is currently in college, but the financial burden of funeral expenses is overwhelming. Hard times forced me to let go of our insurance, and now I am reaching out for help. Any support you can offer will help me lay Barbara to rest with the dignity she deserves and provide some relief for our family as we navigate this loss. Thank you for your kindness and for helping us honor Barbara’s memory.
